What Does CatalystCoach Do?
The single mission of our work is helping business leaders
"maximize their shareholder value". If we don't
accomplish this, everything is lost. I believe that if my
clients don't win in the marketplace, then no one wins, including
me. David Ogilvy, the founder of one of America's first great
Advertising Agencies once said; "The best way to get
great clients, is to do great work." I have lived by
this principle for over thirty years.
Ten years ago, when we started CatalystCoach, coaching was
in its pioneering stage of development. There were no proven
models in coaching, so we developed our own. Every aspect
of our program is custom built and proprietary. This work
was carefully built from the ground up.
Great coaching is a combination of both the ability to understand
business and its strategy as well as the nature of human beings.
All of us have an emotional quotient. Most executives primarily
use the intellectual aspect of their mind. They use logic,
reason, their analytical skills, and data to lead their teams
and the business. And most of the time they find less than
excellent results with their leadership. This is because most
human beings actions are driven more by their emotional quotient
side of their mind. Here is just one example of how the emotional
quotient is relevant in the workplace; If you desire your
direct reports to take bold action, when the data is present,
and a decision is made, but fail to see them do this in a
timely manner, we often find the root of this delay is fear.
Fear of: making a commitment, fear of making a mistake, fear
of looking bad to the rest of the team, and fear of missing
their MBOs. This kind of fear is not a "gripping"
fear; it is more a subtle kind that causes hesitation. But
"He who hesitates is lost".
There are hundreds of scenarios in business where coaching
can make a huge difference. Just a few of these areas include:
- Overcoming subtle fear
- Founders issues
- Leveraging commitment, individually, among the team, and
with alignment
- Managing the Board of Directors
- Heightened level of conflict, politics, and finger pointing
of blame, in the team
- M&A distractions/integration
- Personal one-on-one conflicts
- When to fire VP without leaving a hole in the E-Team
- Wading through ethical dilemmas
- Avoiding and getting over burnout
- Beating a much stronger competitor
- Preparing the team and play for IPO
